This is a Rowan wand. It is magickal, and it is a faerie protected tree. You cannot process any of it by cutting off a live limb, it is akin to the Sao Paulo in that it is so sacred that you must wait until the branches fall off the tree before you can even use it for magick, and even then it MUST be used for magick only.
The berries are considered the food of the gods (the fae), yet can be consumed by humans if they dare. Stories are told of how many berries can be consumed by humans and each one they eat carries a curse and at the same time, a blessing.
The branches are very slender and so is the tree itself. It is called Mountain ash in the United States however it rarely grows here or among people. They prefer the climates and soil in Northern Europe only. The trees and branchoes also will come with faeries attached to them, but once you learn their style of magick, you will never go back.
