In need of “something blue”? Look no further! Often confused with Turquoise, Peruvian Chrysocolla is a blue and green opaque gemstone that displays a variety of colorful patterns – this occurs due to the oxidization of copper, iron and manganese.

• Hardware is drilled in, then each is extra-securely attached with aircraft grade bonding. The reverse attachment point is then coated in resin to help prevent damage, because gravity happens!

►ABOUT THE STONE:
Chrysocolla does not form visible crystals; instead, it forms in balls, bubbly plates or in massive form. Well-known for its fine quality, Peruvian Chrysocolla is from the famous Lilly Mine, located approx. 300 miles south of the capital Lima. Specimens of Chrysocolla from this location also found mixed with Azurite, Malachite and Quartz.

►ABOUT THE CRAFTSMANSHIP:
NEW! I use traditional, time-honored lapidary techniques to drill into the stones in order to sink the cufflink hardware deep into the stone’s surface, so your cufflinks will not come apart. This time-consuming process is done in addition to the adhesive and resin layers that attach the stones to the metal cufflink hardware. Most crafters skip this most important drilling (and resin) step.

Each pair of cufflinks is unique and one of a kind, and made by hand by printmaker, metalworking artist and Cyberoptix founder, Bethany Shorb. I work between my home base in Detroit, MI and a mobile RV studio Arizona, where I source all our stone, crystal, shell, fossil and horn specimens there and at the Tucson and Quartzsite AZ gem shows. All are intuitively sourced in person, from only the most reputable individual suppliers.
