This listing is for a beautiful Crooked Wand I hand carved from a dead branch I pruned from a Highbush Blueberry bush growing next to a nature trail near my home. I have not carved many Blueberry wands becausethe wood is quite dear to me so I only use it for special wands. In this case, I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite artists, Gustav Klimt, but I also wanted to do something different with the cracks that are so characteristic of this particular wand wood.

I wanted to mimic the technique used by the Japanese for mending broken pottery, kintsugi, or golden joinery. This isn’t true kintsugi, as I have no experience with the materials needed, and I wasn’t sure if it would even work with wood, so I experimented with PVA glue mixed with golden acrylic paint. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, and the gold filled cracks beautifully accent Klimt’s style used in the reference painting I used, “The Kiss”.
