Simply amazing antique French black silk and Chantilly
lace dating from 1880s or earlier.Made from silk and
beautiful Chantilly Lace overlay.Original couture label for
a Grand Magasin in Toulouse France. Superb combination
of layers of fine pleated silk and lace.

It fastens at the front with three hook and eye closures
and would have been worn as an evening or a formal
afternoon visiting cape. We actually still have the wooden
delivery box for it as well although we may be listing that
separate and has some glue repairs (inquire if interested).

The lace has an amazing feather pattern and when laid
flat it has the appearance of a mystical bird.Soft faded
black and delicate feel that you only find with antique
Chantilly and that is what makes it so unique.

Pieces of this condition are rare so it would be a wonderful
addition to an antique clothing collection or a vintage
occasion. As silks are very delicate and do not hold up well
over the years there is a good amount of shattering of the
silk but only the lining that can be removed or replaced.
The outer shell and lace are in good condition.

Beautiful display piece ..a truly delightful historic textile
from another time, a rare find!
